Working on Gadigal Country of the Eora Nation

A participatory designer and generative researcher, Simone has over 16 years’ experience working with communities and organisations to create visions for sustainable, equitable futures through fieldwork, co-design and design-led research.

At TACSI Simone’s role is to shape, share and evolve design research processes that activate, sustain and orient positive social change. In Regenerative Communities, she leads the Fire to Flourish initiative in partnership with the Monash Sustainable Development Institute, Monash University.

Simone is passionate about re-imagining cultural narratives that enable people to lead, imagine and invest in regenerative futures. With a background in visual, spatial and strategic design, Simone is a published author and committed design educator who continues to lecture in Visual Communication at University Technology, Sydney.

Most recently, she has taught alongside Indigenous Elders and practice leaders to help future designers work more successfully with Indigenous people, practices and ways of knowing.

Fire to Flourish

Fire to Flourish

In the wake of increasing bushfires, floods and other disaster events, it’s critical for communities to pave new ways to lead, imagine, connect and invest in their communities’ future. Fire to Flourish is a five-year, $75m partnership that aims to empower communities in bushfire-affected communities to develop novel approaches to strengthening community resilience.
