We’re delighted to announce that Melanie Rayment will be joining the TACSI family in January 2020 as our new Director, Social Innovation Consulting.
A fierce advocate for the power of design and its ability to affect positive social change, Melanie’s impressive career spans 18 years across both strategic design and social innovation roles.
She joins us from Barnardo’s, one of the UK’s largest children’s charity, where she led the Service Design team on a mission to astronomically change the landscape of children’s social care. During her time in the UK, Melanie was a Visiting Lecturer in Service Design at the Royal College of Art, and has held a number of strategic design positions with global management consultants in Sydney, Tokyo and London. Previously, she was the Centre Manager of Designing Out Crime, a social innovation research centre at the University of Technology Sydney, where she also taught Design for Social Impact.
A strategist, social designer, researcher and human-centred design specialist, Melanie’s focus is developing holistic approaches to improving people’s lives now and into the future. She strives to enhance the way we imagine what’s possible for our communities and environment, and is skilled at building new organisations, structures and capabilities that can help us on that journey. Her innate passion for using design-led innovation to tackle complex social issues means she’s the perfect person to lead our Social Innovation practice.
Melanie says: “I’m thrilled to be joining TACSI in 2020. This has long been an organisation I admire, and I’m looking forward to amplifying the wonderful work they do to support communities in Australia and beyond.”
