We were deeply grateful to do this with Aunty Vickey’s extended family during three days with cultural guidance and education from Uncle Cedric Varcoe, Jade Brook, David Booth and some wonderful singing from Mumma Blue.
Across the three days, we shared stories, songs, food and quiet moments of reflection. The camp reminded us of the importance of deep listening, kinship and culture in shaping how we show up in our work and in our relationships with communities.
We’ll be carrying these teachings with us as we move into the new year.
